Welcome to The Spark Show! In this episode, I’ll be going over how to deal with haters, because we all know they’re out there. The more you grow, the more this will happen. It’s inevitable and you can’t please everybody. 

So first let’s talk about FEAR because this is where this comes from, this comes from a fear of judgment. You’re worried about what people are gonna say, how they’re gonna react. It happens to all of us, you are not alone. 

Even the biggest celebrities, personalities out there have experienced a fear of judgment. Especially now in this age of social media where one thing can be retweeted and shared a million times and then it becomes a whole thing. 

So I’ve talked about FEAR of judgment several times in my podcast and in my content because it’s something you’re going to have to overcome as an influencer. As someone who puts themselves out there, if you let that fear stop you, that will also stop you from making an impact and helping others. 

You can stay small and hide without being judged, or you can put yourself out there and go in it with the attitude and perspective of, “I’m going to be judged no matter what, so might as well be judged doing something I love doing and helping people”

Every day, you have to make a choice to take that risk. Are you going to put something out there even though some people may not agree with you? But you know that it may help some people out? 

Here’s the other thing. No matter how hard you try, no matter how much good intentions you have, there’s always going to be someone who doesn’t get it or like it. I’ve had people comment on my posts saying things about me and how I look, which has nothing to do with the value I’m trying to deliver. I’ve had hate emails saying I’m awful for not teaching and giving my services for free. You can’t stop it, it’s inevitable. 

There’s always someone else who has an opinion or something to say. The thing is, you can’t control other people. The only thing you can control is how you react to it and how you are affected by it. You can prepare for it, you can 

And this is where mindset comes in. You have to build your mindset muscle so strongly that when this negativity comes up (and it will) that you will not be derailed by it or it won’t affect your ability to show up for your audience that does like you and trust you, and cares about what you have to say. 

If you’re not working on your mindset on a daily basis, you’re in danger of having those moments where if negativity comes - it’s hard to bounce back. 

So when I mean mindset, I’m talking about a few things: 

  1. Daily ritual - morning routine, meditation, journaling, visualization, tapping, listening to podcasts, watching videos, reading books
  2. Being clear on your vision - reconnecting with your WHY every single day and knowing why you wanna do what you do, keeps you motivated and taking action 
  3. Having a mentor or coach - for most of us (me included), it’s hard to pull yourself out if you’re in a black hole of negativity but if you have someone to support you and keep you accountable - it really helps. 

Also if you’re learning from someone who is already doing what you wanna do and has done it already, then you can save a lot of time, money, frustration and headaches from trying to figure it out on your own.
